Primary Function
As an AmeriCorps Member placed through Red River Community Corps, the Consulting Engagement Associate serves in a capacity-building role at Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OKCNP), supporting the Chief Programs Officer and the Director of Consulting and Training in expanding the Center's reach and impact across Oklahoma's nonprofit sector. The Consulting Engagement Associate strengthens OKCNP's ability to connect nonprofit organizations with the consulting, coaching, and facilitation services they need — helping identify potential clients, coordinate consulting engagements, and ensure that nonprofits across the state are aware of and actively benefiting from the Center's advisory offerings. This position also supports the broader consulting team in administrative coordination, data tracking, and program logistics. The Consulting Engagement Associate reports directly to the Chief Programs Officer.
Requirements
Essential Service Activities
Consulting Outreach and Client Connection
- Conduct proactive outreach to nonprofit organizations across Oklahoma to introduce and promote the Center's consulting, coaching, and facilitation services.
- Serve as an accessible first point of contact for nonprofit leaders inquiring about consulting services, providing responsive and professional support to help them navigate available offerings.
- Assist in identifying organizations that may benefit from targeted consulting support, including those undergoing leadership transitions, strategic planning processes, or governance challenges.
- Support the Director of Consulting and Training in prospecting new consulting clients, preparing outreach materials, and following up on leads to build the consulting pipeline.
- Participate in member events, convenings, and community gatherings as a representative of the Center's consulting services, building visibility and relationships across the sector.
- Represent OKCNP's values and mission in all interactions, modeling professionalism, equity, and genuine commitment to nonprofit sector health.
Consulting Engagement Coordination
- Assist the Director of Consulting and Training in coordinating the logistics of active consulting engagements, including scheduling, communication with clients, and preparation of materials.
- Support the onboarding of new consulting clients by gathering intake information, orienting them to the engagement process, and connecting them with the appropriate consultant or Center staff member.
- Help coordinate the Center's network of subject-matter consultants, including tracking availability, maintaining contact information, and supporting communication around specific engagements.
- Assist in developing and distributing materials that describe and promote consulting service lines, including governance, strategic planning, leadership transitions, financial management, and organizational effectiveness.
- Support the planning and execution of consulting-adjacent events such as workshops, cohort sessions, and facilitation trainings.
Training and Professional Development Support
- Assist the consulting and training teams in coordinating logistics for professional development programs, including scheduling, registration support, venue coordination, and supply preparation.
- Help promote the Center's professional development offerings — including the Nonprofit Management Certification Program, Standards for Excellence, and the Nonprofit Law and Finance Conference — to member and non-member organizations.
- Support the evaluation of training programs by collecting and organizing participant feedback and summarizing findings for program improvement.
- Assist in creating and distributing member communications about upcoming training and consulting opportunities.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Center's database, documenting consulting inquiries, outreach activities, engagement progress, and client interactions.
- Assist in running queries and generating reports that track consulting pipeline activity, client engagement, and service utilization across the state.
- Research prospective client organizations and document relevant contact information and organizational context to support outreach efforts.
- Collect and organize data from client surveys and satisfaction feedback to inform quality assurance and consulting strategy.
- Administrative and Collaborative Support
Provide general administrative support to the Chief Programs Officer and Director of Consulting and Training, including correspondence, scheduling assistance, and preparation of reports and meeting materials. - Work collaboratively across departments — including communications, marketing, membership, and external affairs — to support coordinated promotion of consulting services.
- Contribute positively to the culture at OKCNP, participating in staff meetings, team problem-solving, and collaborative goal-setting.
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a detail-oriented manner, balancing independent work with team collaboration.
- Maintain professionalism, organizational standards, and confidentiality as an OKCNP representative.
- Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as events may require.
Other Service Activities
- Participate in OKCNP signature events, including ONE and Visions, as a representative of the consulting and training team.
- Engage in professional development activities provided through OKCNP and Red River Community Corps, including trainings, learning cohorts, and coaching.
- Complete all required AmeriCorps member documentation, timesheets, and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Programs Officer within the scope of AmeriCorps-approved activities.
Qualifications and Attributes
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
- Genuine passion for the nonprofit sector and an interest in organizational capacity building and consulting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — comfortable engaging with organizational leaders, building professional relationships, and representing the Center with confidence and warmth
- Some experience or coursework in nonprofit management, organizational development, business administration, communications, or a related field is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and follow through on commitments with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and comfort working in databases or CRM systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in tracking and coordinating multiple engagements simultaneously
- Appreciation for Oklahoma's diverse urban and rural nonprofit landscape and the unique capacity challenges nonprofits across the state face
- A bachelor's degree or enrollment in a college or university program is preferred, but not required
Location
This position will be based at the Tulsa regional office of Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. Travel between Tulsa and Oklahoma City locations and throughout the state may be required.
