Description
Job Summary
The Diesel Truck Shop Technician III is responsible for diagnosing equipment issues and performing complex mechanical repairs on trucks, buses, engines, engine components, and related equipment in a shop environment. This role also performs routine maintenance, assists other technicians, and ensures all work meets established quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems on trucks, buses, engines, and related equipment.
Identify and order parts required for repairs and maintenance.
Perform complex and major mechanical repairs and component replacements.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
Complete work orders and timesheets accurately and in a timely manner.
Assist lower-level technicians with repair assignments as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow all quality control and safety procedures.
Requirements
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
3–7 years of related diesel, truck, or heavy equipment repair experience.
Technical certification in automotive and/or diesel engine repair.
Ability to utilize laptop computers and portable diagnostic tools.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
Customer-service oriented with the ability to follow company procedures.
Preferred Skills
Basic computer navigation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working on diesel engines, trucks, buses, and related equipment.
Ability to assist and support junior technicians.
Working Conditions
Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments.
May be exposed to varying weather conditions.
Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requires vision, depth perception, color recognition, and the ability to safely perform mechanical repair tasks.
