Integrity Grading & Excavating (IGE) is a leading heavy civil contractor specializing in mass grading, site utilities, structural excavation, infrastructure development, and site construction projects throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. Our continued growth has created an opportunity for an experienced and driven Estimator to join our team and help pursue some of the region's most impactful transportation, infrastructure, renewable energy, municipal, and site-development projects. Based on the open job listing currently under review, the role can be located in either Madison or Schofield, Wisconsin.
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in evaluating opportunities, developing competitive bids, identifying project risks, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This position offers direct collaboration with executive leadership, operations, project management, and business development teams.

Project Types
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to estimate projects such as:
Mass grading and earthwork
Highway and transportation infrastructure
Municipal utility construction
Site development and commercial construction
Renewable energy and utility-scale solar projects
Structural excavation and retaining structures
Environmental and landfill construction
Industrial and manufacturing site improvements
Position Summary
This is a full-time position focused on estimating heavy civil and highway construction projects. The Estimator will prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, develop competitive cost estimates, evaluate project opportunities, coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing, and participate in strategic bid reviews and go/no-go decisions. The role is critical to ensuring accurate project pricing, effective risk management, and sustainable company growth.
Key Responsibilities
Quantity Takeoffs
Perform accurate and comprehensive quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, structures, and miscellaneous project components.
Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.
Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and scope gaps.
Cost Estimating
Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates using company estimating systems.
Analyze labor, equipment, production rates, and material requirements.
Prepare estimate summaries and bid recommendations for leadership review.
Support value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
Bid Strategy & Project Pursuit
Participate in go/no-go evaluations and bid strategy meetings.
Assess project opportunities based on risk, profitability, resource availability, and market conditions.
Provide recommendations regarding project pursuit decisions.
Subcontractor & Supplier Management
Solicit, review, and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Develop relationships with industry partners and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs).
Ensure compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.
Market & Business Development Support
Monitor market trends and bidding activity.
Assist with project pursuit planning and market intelligence.
Collaborate with business development and operations teams to identify growth opportunities

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Required
Experience estimating heavy civil, site development, utility, or transportation construction projects.
Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and detailed construction estimates.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Preferred
Estimating experience with DOT, municipal, site development, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
Experience with earthwork modeling and quantity calculations.
Familiarity with subcontractor and supplier procurement processes.
Understanding of project scheduling, risk assessment, and construction operations.
