Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. As the nation’s premier plutonium center of excellence, LANL supports the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile while advancing research in national security, space exploration, renewable energy, supercomputing, medicine, and more. We are seeking a Manufacturing Support Manager 1 to provide first-line leadership and operational support within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. In this role, you will help coordinate people, priorities, and resources while ensuring work is performed safely, securely, and in accordance with quality and compliance requirements. This is a regular, onsite role in Los Alamos, NM, with a salary range of $106,400 - $176,000.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership for manufacturing support personnel, setting priorities and ensuring work is completed safely and effectively
- Coordinate staffing, schedules, resources, and work activities to support production commitments and operational milestones
- Promote a strong safety, security, quality, and compliance culture in accordance with Laboratory and nuclear facility requirements
- Monitor performance, resolve operational issues, and implement process improvements that strengthen efficiency and reliability
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees through clear expectations, feedback, training, and performance management
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and program stakeholders to align manufacturing support activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 1+ year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
- Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, production support, or another highly regulated technical environment
- Ability to plan and coordinate work, manage competing priorities, and track progress against organizational commitments
- Knowledge of formal work controls, safety requirements, quality standards, and disciplined operations
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, and team-building skills
- Experience developing employees and fostering an inclusive, accountable, high-performing work environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) enrollment (U.S. citizenship required)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting nuclear, high-hazard, or secure manufacturing operations
- Knowledge of Conduct of Operations, Integrated Work Management, and Integrated Safety Management principles
- Experience with production planning, resource management, continuous improvement, and performance metrics
- Familiarity with classified work environments and handling sensitive information
