- Metals/Woods Shop Teacher/Athletic Director
Description
The position requires teaching junior high and high school. Experience in agriculture, horticulture, construction, industrial arts, and engine mechanics is preferred, or a willingness to obtain training in areas without experience. This is a full time position in a small, rural school district. Current enrollment is about 105 students, K-12. With our small class sizes, a teacher can establish close working relationships with every student they teach. Exact schedule to be determined.
The Athletic Director position is currently open. Next year 2027-2028, due to retirement, we will have a potential 0.5 assistant principal opening.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
1. Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements to meet the needs of the position or the ability to obtain those endorsements.
2. Vocational Certification, or the ability to obtain the needed certifications.
3. Principal certification or the willingness to obtain the certification.
4. Successful student teaching experience, substitute teaching experience and/or successful classroom experience working with junior high and high school students
5. Proven ability to work with students who have challenges with reading, writing and mathematics.
6. Ability to create a progressive environment where students achieve their personal best on a daily basis.
7. Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with parents, students, and other staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or endorsements in teaching multiple classes (metal fabrication, woods, general mechanics, agriculture, PE)
Experience providing individualized and small group instruction
Desire to coach or advise extracurricular activities
Willingness to teach additional classes as needed
School leadership experience
